The full story The problem, how we approached it, and what we built
Refill reminders, new-prescription notifications, insurance updates. A pharmacy was making these calls by hand, or not at all. We built a HIPAA-conscious voice agent that makes them, every time.
02 The problem
Patient calls are exactly the work that slips when a pharmacy is busy. Refills due, new prescriptions, coverage issues.
Done by hand they are slow and inconsistent. Skipped, they cost revenue and quietly erode patient trust.
03 The approach
We mapped the calls a pharmacy makes and the rules behind each: refills due, new prescriptions, coverage changes, and the government-insurance cases where the script must change.
The agent calls, confirms the patient, and fills only after the patient says yes. Each prescription then moves to checkout, back to stock, or a retry two business days later. Nothing about a patient's health is left in a voicemail.
04 What we built
- Outbound voice agent bridging the pharmacy system to the calling platform
- Date-of-birth identity verification before any prescription detail is discussed
- Seven outcome paths, each routing the prescription automatically
- 20-plus edge cases handled: language barriers, controlled-substance questions, callbacks
- Business-hours call scheduling with automatic retries
- Real-time dashboard with recordings, transcripts, and sentiment
